Baby, You can drive my car

For the month of September, the casa de phillips station wagon is getting a bit of an overhaul.

It is going from this (*):

Into this:

Yep, I am going to be driving a Chevy Malibu for the entire month of September and will be taking each of you readers along for the ride. (Figuratively speaking, of course. Unless I know you in real life…then you are more than welcome to come along for the ride. You could even star in a video if you want.)

One might ask…what are you going to do for the entire month of September while driving around in a car free from sippy cup stains and goldfish crumbs?

My first answer is “Relish in all its glorious cleanliness while chatting with the On-Star representative”.

My second answer is “Continue my daily life as a mom/writer/casa de phillips CEO while I cruise around town in a sporty car completing some fun ‘mommy missions’”

The best thing: You all get to come along for the ride.  (Figuratively speaking, of course. Unless I know you in real life…then you are more than welcome to come along for the ride. You could even star in a video if you want.)

Want to know why you might want to come along for the ride?

Malibu Pearl – Guest Post by Erica Mueller

Mnnn. It sounds like an exotic drink, doesn’t it? After about an hour inside Chevy’s pearl white 2011 Malibu with three girlfriends, and a day of 100+ weather a fruity drink would have been perfect!

Dwan, Amanda, Babette and I showed up at Bankston Chevrolet and asked to see and test drive the all new Mailbu… fully loaded. We were treated to an in depth tour of the car, shown all the bells and whistles, and took turns driving this sweet car. I really do feel bad for poor Phil. He put up with us acting like a bunch of school girls and he was very accommodating.

Things that impressed me:

The sound system is Bose. Ahhhhh! This music lover can really appreciate a good sound system.

The car is roomy. Three of us gals sat in the backseat while another took a turn at the wheel and Phil sat in the passenger seat. We weren’t cramped in the back and I’m confident, one could fit a couple of carseats back there without a problem! Also, the trunk is very deep. I think we decided we could fit at least 3 bodies 2 weeks worth of groceries in there. To have as much room in the car as we had, and still have that much room for luggage is really impressive. I wouldn’t normally think of a mid-size car as a good choice for a family who travels, but the Malibu would totally work.

The color. Ok, so I know these cars come in a variety of colors, but I’m partial to pearl white and when Phil pulled this car around I was tickled! There is something very elegant about a glossy pearl car. While I think the interior would have been more luxurious in tan, the black leather did look and feel nice.

It’s sporty. The Corvette and Camaro are beautiful cars, but they’d never be a practical option for a mom with kiddos. The Malibu is sporty enough to make a mom feel special. The sleek lines and small details give the car a sense of luxury and class.

Right now, Chevy has several moms across the country in Malibus. These women are putting the car to the test and having a lot of fun while they’re at it. They’re also running cool promotions for the public. Dwan, Babette, Amanda and I participated in one of these promotions and for test driving the all new Chevy Malibu we were each given a certificate good for an one hour massage at Massage Envy! Chevy knows how to make a mom feel special!

To be able to play my iPod in the car is amazing… and the children think it is magical!

What a blast!

Are You Cold?

There is a feature in the 2010 Chevy Malibu that I didn’t think I would have an opportunity to test out and share with you. But thanks to Chevy for an evening out with my husband I got very cold and got to test out the heated seats. Take a look at how they work:

Who Said You Can’t Haul Stuff in a Car?

One of the smartest hidden features in the Malibu is a mock- pickup- truck- bed-liner that magically appears when you lay the backseat down.

Haul anything you desire without the fear of damaging the upholstery or seats! Genius!

How Do You Use Your Sunroof?

We took the Chevy Malibu out to Fossil Rim Nature Center. The car handled fantastic on all of the steep inclines (which there were a lot of). We also found a fantastic use for the sunroof! Check it out:
